Algebra

9th grade Algebra

Solve for x: 3x+6 = 4x+8.

Solution:

3x+6 = 4x+8

Subtract by 4x from both sides,

3x-4x+6 = 4x-4x+8

-x+6 = 8

Subtract 6 from both sides,

-x+6-6 = 8-6

-x = 2

So, x = -2.
